Job Description

R.J. Grondin & Sons is currently looking for qualified Truck Drivers to join the team. Drivers must be able to transport different types of construction material, loaded onto their dump truck by a front end loader or excavator operated by others, from company pits to job sites. They must follow traffic safety laws and be able to do a visual inspection of their truck each day. If there are any defects these need to be brought to the attention of the mechanical staff. The driver must be able to operate a truck with a push-button automatic transmission that is located on the dash. Due to the radius of operation for our company trucks, less than 100 air miles from the office, the drivers do not need to hold a valid DOT medical card. All of the drivers are in a random drug screening pool.

 

Additional details:

  • Number of hours per week: May – September 45 – 50 hours per week and the remainder of the year 40 hours
  • This is strictly a driving position no ground laboring is required.
  • Employees receive a half hour lunch break, paid and a 15 minute coffee break paid during a typical shift
  • The loads on the truck are dumped through hydraulic means. It is a push button PTO to activate the dump body. The button is located in the cab of the dump truck.
  • The employee can get out of the vehicle at the site or the pit if needed but this is not a function of the typical job. They do need to stay in the cabs of the trucks at all loading location for safety.
  • There are typically 3 steps to access the truck cabs. With different model trucks the steps vary in distance apart. The Peterbilt automatic dump trucks that the company bought 2 years ago have steps at 19, 17, 18 inch intervals up into the cab of the truck from the ground. Those same trucks have a hand rail on the right hand side of the truck both inside and outside of the cab. There is also a hand rail on the left side of the door opening on the inside of the cab. The steering wheel is 18 inches in radius and the seats are air ride suspension.
